Saffire Grill Co. is known for making our blue kamado grills (some might know them as blue “egg” grills). As you’ve probably noticed, dark blue is our main color: it’s all over our website! But you might wonder how we got to the beautiful “Sapphire Blue” kamados we sell today.
Older Grill Colors
Contrary to popular opinion, we’ve had multiple grill colors over the years. Our first grill was a teal color.
Within a year of releasing our first grill, we quickly expanded to feature black and red kamado grills as well.
(Fun fact: Our first website showcased the color red in the background and the menu. At the time we preferred reds and oranges instead of blues to illustrate the idea of charcoal that’s burning.)
The Modern Sapphire Blue Kamado Grill Color
In 2016 we finally arrived at our Sapphire Blue color, which quickly became very popular! In light of the new blue kamado grills, Jasper Red grills quickly lost popularity, with Onyx Black grills falling into a solid second place.
Right around 2018 we darkened the Sapphire Blue color more. It really helps the blue grill ceramics to standout from the 304 stainless steel that goes with it!
Today, we sell Sapphire Blue, Onyx Black, and Matte Black kamado grills. As you can see, all three grill colors are quite elegant!
