If you live near the ocean, such as in Florida, we recommend the following:
- Choose the Platinum Saffire. The Platinum Saffire features 304 stainless steel on all external parts (not including the casters), which greatly improves it’s life in the ocean air.
- Regularly wipe down the external steel on your grill with fresh water. Because ground water near the ocean can be salty too, we recommend having distilled water handy in a spray bottle. You can spritz the steel with fresh water, and then wipe it down to remove salt build-up on the surface and keep it lasting longer.
- Purchase a grill cover. We recommend getting a grill cover to protect your grill from the salty air when not in use. You still need to wipe your grill down with fresh water from time to time, but a grill cover will help make that work more effective.
